The Refuge

Servin' it up

We've got the java brewing and the hot coco in the mugs. It's been said that we're the best coffee house in town; we're not the Starbucks of course, because you won't need your bucks at The Refuge Coffee House! That's right.it's all free! Weekly we're servin' it up with a smile. Come by the coffee house for a quick snack and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Timberline! While you're there you can play board games with fellow students or relax and watch DVDs of all your favorite Christian Bands, like Switchfoot's Live from San Diego or the dare devils of Steelroots Skate Boarders. The coffee house opens at 6pm each Wednesday and runs until 8pm.

Kickin' worship

Flat out, face down worship, that's what you'll get with The Refugee Band. Mixin' it up with all your favorites. Everything from Chris Tomlin to Third Day to David Crowder, you'll get a taste of it during the worship hour that kicks from 8-9pm.

Gettin' the goods

This is where the fun really begins. The mission of The Refuge is to "Challenge and Equip Students to be Passionate Followers of Jesus Christ." Dirk Helmling leads The Refuge each week by diving into God's word and helping students get a clearer picture of God's heart, His nature, His character.well, you get it. This is a time where The Refuge as a group learns more about what God desires of us, as His children. Come and get the "goods" from 9-10pm.

Bangin' D-groups

Discipleship groups are a huge part of The Refuge. If you're not familiar with what a discipleship group is, it's a small group that meets once a week. It's a time for you to be authentic and real about what's going on in your life. Discipleship groups are gender specific, about 3-6 in total size and are lead by an adult from one of the area churches that support The Refuge (like Woodland Hills, Biltmore Baptist, Forks of Ivy and Gateway Christian Community). In previous semesters, D-groups have done Bible studies and read books like Messy Spirituality and The Student God Uses. They're a bangin' good time and a huge blessing to be apart of as you follow Jesus!
